ELECTRICITY CRISIS

Peace is the world’s need, nation’s need, school’s need and family’s need. Peace is felt, realized and further demanded. The demand is for the sake of any kinds of progress. Any kinds of violence are not liked by peace wishers because man cannot have peace of his mind so he cannot make any decisions for progress. Provisions are possible only in peaceful environment.
Nepal has suffered from violence for nearly 15 years and still people are under pressure of violence, strikes, kidnapping etc. Since the time (2006), Nepal’s government and the communist  party of Nepal (Maoist) signed a comprehensive peace agreement to formally and their conflict , peace process has been remarkably prospered. The agreement has been widely regarded as historic and many observers of the agreement and also of the other agreements that have been made afterwards are still much optimistic, in spite of the hurdles that lie ahead.
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has expressed UN’s readiness to provide any kind of help upon the request of Nepali people. All parties together, under UN supervision, have successfully arranged the elections of the Constituent assembly, and also ended the Monarchy system with unanimous decision. Now they are moving ahead to prepare a new constitution. All know well that the peace process is moving in right direction.
Having the government under the leadership of Maoist party first after the revolution, and now having the government changed, people have now doubt that the peace agreement will succeed, because the Maoist party has been isolated. I think Nepal has still problem. We are still feeling uneasy thinking about the real peace, dreamed so far by the people. Peace is required for the nation’s integration. We can just have a hope!
ELECTRICITY CRISIS
Nepal is facing severe electricity crisis due to supply constraint and it has already been forecast that the load shedding is here to stay in the increasing magnitude. In the past, Nepal Electricity Authority(NEA) used to trot the excuse of no water in rivers whenever it came up with a new load shedding schedule or made changes in them resulting in the increased hours of load shedding. However, this rainy season, even in the abundance of water, NEA imposed a load shedding of  2 hours each day, two days a week even in August.
In Nepal, Hydropower was historically been seen as the priority. It is still considered to have enormous potential, but after more than a century- from 1900 when the pharping power plant with 500 KW installed capacity was established development has been extraordinarily slow. At present hydropower still meets only two percent of the total energy need, and only some 40 percent of the total population has access to electricity. It is also the case that such hydropower plants as do exist has mainly catered to the electricity needs of the urban or semi-urban areas according to the authorized body of NEA.

NEED OF PEACE IN NEPAL

Peace is the world’s need, nation’s need, school’s need and family’s need. Peace is felt, realized and further demanded. The demand is for the sake of any kinds of progress. Any kinds of violence are not liked by peace wishers because man cannot have peace of his mind so he cannot make any decisions for progress. Provisions are possible only in peaceful environment.

THE GROWING UREST IN OUR COUNTRY

Nepal, a beautiful Himalayan country, had once recognition as a country of peace and making it worldwide recognized, they were always working hard. Major reasons behind this recognition was that  the country had much peace and order. Now people have very poor and bad vision of this country. We can see growing unrest in our country all the time.
Revolution of 2046 had given a good hope to Nepalese people, but that was for very short time, because, just after short peaceful period, a great complicated conflict arose. That was so called Maoist Revolution which gulped nearly thirteen thousand people.  Army, Maoist, government officials, teachers, and general citizens were linked. A lot of people are still in the list of ‘lost’ and ‘disappeared’.
After the ceasefire and then agreement made between seven parties and the Maoists, a little relief was felt. Everybody thought that the country was being led to the peace and order. Everything would be usual and all would feel comfortable. Unfortunately, at present, all these good expectations have gone in vain. We have unrest going all the time, threatening life, pleasures and property. Relatives anxiously wait for one who has walked out of home for some destination. Strikes from different parties and organizations are disturbing every mind and everything. A person travelling for east or west halts several times on the way because of strikes.
Because of the lack of the supply of goods such as petrol, gas, etc., people are always worried. They are bound to think –where are they heading for? Of course, to uncertainty and to confusion, chaos and unrest, fear and violence. Reasoning and also sense of humanity are required to avoid such situations, and thus they can lead to the right path and destination.

The changing status of women in Nepal

Man and woman were the first creations of God. It is said that woman was created for the companion of man. This trend is the same still among human beings. Man and woman are companions to each other. However, this is the man who considers woman as inferior race. Man believes that he has right and is powerful naturally to rule over woman. Man dominates woman. Man’s wrong are excused, but wrongs done by woman are hardly excused.  Most important role of woman has been ever considered as housewife. She takes care of her family.
Nevertheless, status of woman is changing all the time. She had obtained her position at home as well as outside. She works outside in an office or working place position at home as well as outside. She works outside in an office or working place like industry. She can earn money and support s the family. Therefore, we can see that a woman can work more than the man. Besides, education has made woman much forward. Education has made her much more conscious. This, in turn, has bought a great change in her economic, social culture, political and legal status.
Law has been made for provision of share of father’ property if she remains unmarried. Certain number of seats has been preserved in parliamentary election and also an election of local bodies. To sum up, I believe that economic, social, cultural, political and legal status of woman is ever changing in Nepal .
